GETTING RID OF SMELLS
A bowl of white vinegar will absorb all kinds of household odors, even cigarette smoke. Placing one on the counter before you start to cook will go a long way in keeping the odors to a minimum so they don't permeate your apartment. As a routine measure, hide a bowl of vinegar in other places, like on top of cupboards, behind the couch or even on a bookshelf in a pretty vase or container.
